2011 Project Life--Completed

I finished my 2011 Project Life in March.  And I have completed January and February for 2012.  I have enjoyed doing Project Life and since I have yet to do anything for 2010, I may go back and do PL for 2010.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve I made snow globe cupcakes.  I took an empty orb coke bottle and cut the top off and placed it over the Rudolph cupcake picks.

The girls wanted to open one gift before we went to MeeMaw's so I picked the gift and let them open it.  It was the new Llama Llama book and a set of Walt Disney World DVD's.

Then we went and put out the Reindeer food we made earlier in December.

Jingle the Dog from Meemaw.  The girls were so happy they both got a Jingle Dog from Meemaw
After we opened gifts the girls ended up on Aunt Debbie's iPad and my iPhone.

Shirts for Vacation

After school is out we are taking the girls back to Disney.  As of today we have not told them for sure we are going.  I think Abby knows we are going but she has yet to ask flat out if we are going.  When she said something about going to Disney I told her that her daddy and I would let them know when it was time to tell them where we were going on vacation.  I think we will tell them around May 1st.  We had originally planned on going May 28-June 3rd but because of a work issue with Raymond we moved it up a week.  I know we may have to make up 1, 2 or 3 of the snow days we had but the Memphis City School Board is so busy fighting over this whole consolation thing we may not know if we will have to make them up till late April or May.  I went back and forth over changing our week....Raymond was going to be able to do most of his report before we left but I did not want him to worry and be checking in with work the entire time we were gone.  Also, I have fretted over taking the girls out of school, even thou it will be the last 1, 2 or 3 days of school and I am sure all they will be doing is watching movies and playing games.  I've worried about us being transfer students into our school, even thou they have only missed 1 day each and they have only been late once and we have the days to miss but I don't want to be looked down upon for taking the girls out of school.

ANYWAY......  Here is the first thing I made for our trip....shirts.  I bought the shirts are Joann's along with the iron one Mickey Head letters.    Abby & Allie

Even made one for dad and mom (Raymond & I) to wear.

Little Boy Pants

Halloween Costumes

This year the girls wanted to be Jessie and Tour Guide Barbie for Halloween.  Turning Abby into Jessie was not as easy as I thought it would be.  How hard is it to go to the Disney Store be you ask?  Well, seeing that Jessie is VERY popular this year, the costume was hard to find. I ordered one from Disney.com that was too small but was able to return it.  I called a few Disney Stores around the south and found one in Mobile AL and they were nice enough to ship it to me.  I had bought the hat a while ago so I had that already.

Now for Allie, she wants to be....Tour Guide Barbie from Toy Story 2.  They don't make a costume for Tour Guide Barbie so my creativity came out.   I made her dress and then had to figure out how to make a hat. Below is how I turned a Steak-n-Shake hat into a Tour Guide Barbie Hat.

1. Start with a Steak-n-Shake hat.  Pull it apart and take out the top that makes it hat.
2. I cut and sewed on the fabric that matches Allie's Dress.

3. It was tricky to get the top sewn in since I had already sewn the band together to have it fit on her head.  If I were to do this over again I would most likely glue the fabric in to make the top before I would sew the band together.  I guess I learned something new with this project.

Next was the Name Tag for Barbie
I made in Word 2 ovals and had them filled in with the same turquoise color as the dress fabric.   I then used Word Art to type Toy Story Tours and Barbie.  I printed and cut it out and placed it on cardboard.

Using a glue gun and a safety pin I turned it into a name tag that she could pin on her dress and hat.

I added some ribbon and "flare" (AKA pins) to her name tag.

Disney T-Shirts

I have made 2 different Mickey Head Shirts over the past few weeks.  The first set of shirts is for the girls. It is a Mickey Head Balloon applique.

While I was making these shirts Abby asked if they were for them to wear to Disney on Ice.  I told her Yes! these are for you to wear to Disney on Ice.  Not my orginal thought but if she wants to wear this shirt Friday night, I think that is great.  We are going with Ammie so I made her one as well.

The second set of shirts are for my friend Jennifer's two kids.  They are going to Disney over Fall Break so I thought I could make her kids some super cute birthday gifts.

The red one is for Kyle and the black one is for Kaitlyn
