Arlington Elementary School Craft Fair

I am going to participating in my first Craft Fair on Friday, November 5th at Arlington Elementary during their Fall Festival.  I have been posting pictures of what I am making for the craft fair on Facebook.  I have uploaded those same pictures to my craft/business blog: http://mycraftroom2.blogspot.com/

I enjoy making clothes and crafts, I hope that I do well at the craft fair.  If you or any of your friends would like any of these items or would like to see if I can make something for you send me and email, I would love to make something for you or your friends!

Trunk or Treat at Highland

Sunday was Highland's Annual Trunk or Treat.  Everyone was excited to be at our new building.  We had hot dogs out front and trick or treated around the parking lot.  It had been raining all afternoon and stopped just before 4 and started trying to rain again as we finished going around with the girls.

Halloween Costumes

This year the girls wanted to be Jessie and Tour Guide Barbie for Halloween.  Turning Abby into Jessie was not as easy as I thought it would be.  How hard is it to go to the Disney Store be you ask?  Well, seeing that Jessie is VERY popular this year, the costume was hard to find. I ordered one from Disney.com that was too small but was able to return it.  I called a few Disney Stores around the south and found one in Mobile AL and they were nice enough to ship it to me.  I had bought the hat a while ago so I had that already.

Now for Allie, she wants to be....Tour Guide Barbie from Toy Story 2.  They don't make a costume for Tour Guide Barbie so my creativity came out.   I made her dress and then had to figure out how to make a hat. Below is how I turned a Steak-n-Shake hat into a Tour Guide Barbie Hat.

1. Start with a Steak-n-Shake hat.  Pull it apart and take out the top that makes it hat.
2. I cut and sewed on the fabric that matches Allie's Dress.

3. It was tricky to get the top sewn in since I had already sewn the band together to have it fit on her head.  If I were to do this over again I would most likely glue the fabric in to make the top before I would sew the band together.  I guess I learned something new with this project.

Next was the Name Tag for Barbie
I made in Word 2 ovals and had them filled in with the same turquoise color as the dress fabric.   I then used Word Art to type Toy Story Tours and Barbie.  I printed and cut it out and placed it on cardboard.

Using a glue gun and a safety pin I turned it into a name tag that she could pin on her dress and hat.

I added some ribbon and "flare" (AKA pins) to her name tag.

Pouncer Pals Walk-a-Round

Saturday's Football game was the Annual Pouncer Pal's Walk-a-Round Game.  This is when we get to go out on the field and walk a round as the band finished their pre-game show.  I think Raymond and I enjoy it more than girls.  Also I believe my children switched personalities for this game.  Abby was excited to go around the field but not Allie.  Abby even asked where the fireworks were, REALLY???  Where are the fireworks, coming from the child that is deathly afraid of them??? Anyway, this part of the evening was fun.  As soon as we got to the tailgate party before the game the wind picked up and started blowing and did not stop. It got really cool, really fast.  As you can see in the pictures we were not prepared for the drop in temperatures.  Allie got interviewed by Tiger TV for gotigersgo.com and pouncer pals.  I am not sure if they will make the final cut for what will placed on the website or not.

Abby brought Bullseye to the game with her.

We left at halftime, it was just to COLD. It turned out to be a good thing with the way the game ended up, the Tigers lost by 40 points (that is not a typo, it was 40pts).  We enjoyed the rest of our evening at home in our warm house watching the Alabama/Florida game.

Happy Birthday to Me

The girls made me these "cards" for my Birthday.

Raymond and the girls gave me a real card (not a dry erase board). I also got Wicked tickets, the new Nicholas Sparks book and I bought a new skirt.  I had a great day!

Riding Bikes

Abby wanted her training wheels off her bike so Raymond took them off and started trying to teach the girls how to ride without training wheels.  I must say that he is MUCH better at this than I am.  Abby still does not know how to balance herself very well and does not get that you have to peddle so you don't fall over.  Both girls will catch on soon.
