How does my garden grow?
This spring the girls and I planted 3 watermelon plants, 2 potato (one of which came up), tomato plant (none came up), some flowers and lots of sunflowers, the real tall ones. We also planted pumpkins from seeds from last years pumpkins. Here is a picture of 3 of the 5 pumpkin plants we have growing. The 4th plant is behind the brinks in the picture here, the 5th one is in the front yard flower bed.

Paula Dean's Strawberry Cake
Paula Dean's Strawberry Cake
1 white cake mix
1 small box strawberry instant gelatin
1 pkg frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed and pureed
4 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease 2 (9-inch) round cake pans.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix and gelatin. Add pureed strawberries, eggs, oil, and water; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Pour into prepared pans, and bake for 20 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans, and cool completely on wire racks.
Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened (I used strawberry flavored cream cheese)
1 (10-ounce) package frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed and pureed
1/2 teaspoon strawberry extract
7 cups confectioners' sugar
Freshly sliced strawberries, for garnish, optional
Directions
In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Beat in 1/4 cup of the strawberry puree and the strawberry extract. (The rest of the puree is leftover but can be used in smoothies or on ice cream for a delicious treat.) Gradually add confectioners' sugar, beating until smooth.
Spread frosting in between layers and on top and sides of cake. Garnish with sliced fresh strawberries, if desired.

Oreo Ice Cream Cake
I originally got this recipe from my friend Jamie. It was for a Mint Ice Cream Cake but since we are not big mint eaters at our house I tweaked it a little and make it an Oreo Ice Cream Cake.
Crushed Oreo's
Ice Cream Cake
Crust:
1 pkg Oreo's - 25 cookies crushed for crushed
2 tablespoon butter, melted
Filling:
1 qt Cookies & Cream Ice Cream
1 qt Chocolate Ice Cream
1 8oz container whip cream
Crush 25 Oreo's finely for the crush and mix together with the melted butter. Mix well and press into the bottom of a spring form pan. Place in freezer until ready to use.
Line the sides of the spring form pan with remaining Oreo's. Place a small layer of Cookies and Cream Ice cream to help hold the cookies. Let ice cream soften and scoop into pan and spread evenly over the crust. Place back into freezer for 1 hour.
Place the Chocolate Ice cream in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to soften. Scoop and spread over the cookies and cream ice cream. Place back into the freezer for 1 hour.
Thaw whip cream and spread over the chocolate ice cream. Freeze until firm or over night.

Daniel's Graduation
Saturday we went to Jonesboro for Daniel's high school graduation. The last high school graduation I went to was 17 years ago and that was mine. We meet Debbie & Chris at the ASU Convocation Center on ASU's campus.
Here is Hannah and Allie.
Here is Hannah and Allie.
When we got there I thought I really should have brought our church bag to entertain the girls. Hannah had hers so we were ok, for a few minutes....

Abby's Hair Cut by Allie
Wednesday afternoon while I was sitting at the computer working and the girls were watching TV they decided to......cut Abby's hair. Yes, Allie cut Abby's hair. They walked into the computer room and looked so proud of what they had done until they saw my face. After I sent them to their room and calmed down I took some pictures.
Abby's new "do". She looks so cute and grown up with this hair cut. Silly grin...
I took her to get it fix. The place where I get my hair cut was closed so we had to go to Fantastic Sam's.

When I asked Allie why she cut Abby's hair she told that it was getting long. I will never know for sure what happened or how it got started.....
Things I do know:
~That this was bound to happen one day
~The girls cleaned up after the hair cut by putting all the the cut hair in the trash before they and showed me what they did
~They learned a lesson from this...we only cut paper with scissors and not our sister's hair
~They have been banned from scissors till kindergarten
